Astroid

So my title has nothing to do with today's post. I've been waxing nostalgic for UT lately so I bought a burnt orange t shirt today. It's a little bit pic so I can only wear in the winter time but I see would have it today is suddenly very cold. It's also the day before Easter is that good Saturday Easter Eve I don't know but we're going to make eggs today. I hope to follow up this post some pictures of our eggs, but who knows if I'll have time to do that. See you space cowboy.

Opening day

Hey everybody it's opening day and I just couldn't think of a better way to start over again . today Emma and I are watching the opening game with the Giants and Carp. Unfortunately we can't watch the Tigers live.  I will buy her a Tigers outfits soon. It's been a long time stay posted just really is I just haven't felt like it. It's just been really busy all having a baby and everything else going on with life and my co worker quit recently so during our busiest month I'm working alone. Anyway I hope everyone is doing well and I hope to continue posting more. Tonight's post is brought to you by Google Voice typing. Love from me and Emma. Cheers

Crybabies and sleepy time

Emma is up late tonight! She just doesn't want to go to sleep, so she's helping me write the blog today! Everyone say "Hi Emma!" She's feeling a little cranky, but there's nothing like the sound of the keys typing and looking at oneself in the camera screen to make you relax... Let's not forget grabbing Daddy's mouse and sliding it around! The mouse pad curls up on the corners so it's fun for her to grab it and lift it up. Can you see the tears on her cheeks in the pictures? She was WAILING away just a few seconds ago, now we're calming checking ourselves out in the camera and banging away on the keyboard.

Anyway, y'all have a great week!

Tomatoes!

Corgies and the poodle!

So.. why tomatoes? I finally got around to properly setting up my router. I haven't enabled OpenVPN yet, I need to research what's my fastest option, but I did get it up and running with the latest tomato build! :) Yum?

So why tomato? It's free, it graphs, it offers a lot of great options and flexibility!

RUN!

I ran 9km yesterday... I thought it was going to be 10 but I underestimated my path! The problem with Zombies run! is that it doesn't tell you how far you've run, just tells you zombies are coming and that you better get moving! I was chased by zombies about 6 times and I evaded them all!! It's really tough sometimes! I feel like they only come right when I start up a hill or something... inconsiderate zombies!!

Here's another strange thing about the game (well besides the difficult to use playlist methodology) I somehow picked up 3 axes and 2 toolboxes... how did I carry this and not get mauled by zombies? That's more axes than I  have hands, and also quite heavy and cumbersome... finally... could you please stop dropping your sports bras and underwear when you run from the zombies? I have more than enough and am tired of picking it up!

See you.... and RUN!

Whoopie!

Whoopie Pie!!

I made Whoopie Pie! It's yummy!

I mixed some cocoa with some with pancake mix, and baked it in the oven for a few minutes, then I put a marshmallow on top, microwaved it for a few minutes until it got soft and goopy and then sandwiched it.. I know it's not traditional, but it's still pretty tasty!!

Nothing new on the programming front, maybe I'll detail my persistent authorization code another day.

m3u making and other fun goodies.

2 Posts today..

I did a run with Zombies Run today, it's super fun! But I was thinking about how to make a good playlist with linux, easily...  I haven't tried combining it all yet but I bet I could... anyway .. here's what I do:

With rhythmbox, I make a playlist, then save it as a m3u file - this gives me a file that links all my mp3s on them. Put this file in a directory, then run this at command line:

sed "s/#.*//g" < playlist.m3u | sed "/^$/d" | while read line; do cp "${line}" '/path/to/output/folder/'; done

 From this question:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/43643/how-can-i-export-all-the-mp3s-from-a-playlist-in-banshee

Then, once you've gotten all the files in a directory, you need to make a new m3u which removes the paths and just lists the files in the directory... so make a bash file.. like "makem3u.sh" and put this in it:

#!/bin/bash
#
#
touch ./playlist.m3u
echo "#EXTM3U" >> ./playlist.m3u;
for MUSIC in *.mp3 ; do
echo "#EXTINF:"$(mp3info -p "%S,%t" "$MUSIC")"
"$MUSIC"" >> ./playlist.m3u
done

chmod +x the file (or right click it and choose "make executable")
now just run this bash file: ./makem3u.sh

now you have a directory with all your mp3s and an m3u file that links them all. Drop the directory onto your phone or sd-card and let it scan and now zombies run can use it!

tough but it works! :)
